J & R Ceramics * Not recommend *
I hired J & R Ceramics to remove a bathtub and install a shower stall in Brampton. Rico Della Porta said he could do that and take out header on top of bathtub and put tiles all the way up and take out my 28" vanity and put 30" and change toilet and paint it for a good price. My wife said she needed a grab bar he said no problem he would include that and 2 corner caddie shelves. The price was good - I gave $1000 deposit - he was going to start the next week but started 2 days later. After he ripped out the bathtub and surround & floor he called me that night and asked me to have the next $1000 the next day. I told him you haven't installed anything yet. He said he'd put the base of the shower down the next day then I can bring it the next day. Most days he was at my house for a few hours and sometime skipped a day or 2 - it took almost 4 weeks.Then I picked up a shower column for him to install. The day he finished he told me the corner shelves and grab bar were back ordered and just pay him and he will come in a week and install. The next morning when I tried the shower it had no pressure - just spurted for 5 seconds then was just a trickle of water - didn't even go a few inches. I called him he said it worked when he tried and that he would look at it when he gets a chance. Two days later Rico phoned me that he had an idea that may be the cause but he was busy and also told me that he forgot to give me back my key. I told him he wasn't done so give me the key when done. The next day he came - both flex hoses behind the column were kinked so he fixed it and we have good pressure now - he told my wife that he will be back to recaulk around the column. The next day I noticed it was leaking into the basement from under the shower - I've called him and left him messages and he is ignoring me. So I don't have my corner shelves or grab bar, he roughly primed the door but didn't paint it and said he'd bring the rest of the paint for us to finish but never brought it. And Rico from J&R Ceramics still has my house key. He did not remove the header over shower like he first brought up - it was his idea. Rico put a different door trim on one side of the door that's different from the other sides.
He originally told me he would change my 28" vanity with a 30'. One day I came home from work and saw this 24" vanity installed - Rico said they were sold out of the 30" - this is the cheapest one at Rona for $88.
After having no pressure from this shower column which I had to buy myself for Rico to install he came back 3 days later and unkinked both flex hoses and said he would come back to re- caulk but never came back
Update: Right after I posted this I did the caulking around the column myself but 4 months later the ceramic tiles which Rico installed at the step are about to fall right off. J & R Ceramics do not know how to do ceramics. I have to hire another Brampton Ceramic company. Do not call 416-806-0684 for renovations!
